Highlights: [•] We obtained the respiratory uptake efficiencies (E W) of 99 compounds by fish. [•] The relationship between the E W values and log K OW was analyzed. [•] The E W of the compounds increased with increasing the log K OW up to a log K OW of 5. [•] We derived an equation for predicting E W based on a two-phase resistance model.
