Abstract

Stevens-Johnson syndrome is considered one of the most severe reactions to medications, and carbamazepine is associated with greater frequency. This is related with HLA-B*1502 allele in Asiatic populations. Pharmacogenomics is dedicated, among other things, to the analysis of the genetic profile of the patient to determine his susceptibility to adverse drug effects. In populations at increased risk should be screening of genetic markers routinely, before prescribing a drug that can induce this syndrome. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
