Abstract

Discusses results of a study demonstrating the response of inotropic hearts in selenium-deficient mice. Reduced beta-adrenoreceptor-inotropic cardiac response to isoproterenol or norepinephrine; Increased expression and activity of nitric oxide synthase in mice fed diets with adequate selenium.
