Abstract

Jaundice is a sign that describes yellowing of skin, sclera and mucous produced by increased levels of bilirubin. It is common cause of consultation in emergency department and outpatient clinics. It is very common in the neonatal period. Jaundice is not an isolated entity but is talking us of a specific disease. Therefore, after appropriate clinical assessment and taking relevant paraclinical, may be start imagine studies with US scan of liver; according this study findings we need additional studies as contrast abdominal CT to evaluate biliary tract, MRI or other noninvasive methods according to patient condition and availability. Depending on the results is necessary to continue with ERCP as the diagnostic, therapeutic or both. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
