La enseñanza universitaria laica y gratuita versus la enseñanza particular y católica: un debate de ayer y de hoy en Chile.

During the XIX century along the consolidation of the Chilean Republic, there existed a clash of ideas between seculars and who represented the teaching state and catholic groups, who defended the liberty of teaching. As a result of the ideas of these two groups there were born the two most important universities in the country. The 'Universidad de Chile' and the 'Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile'.
