Abstract

Highlights: [•] The genetic relationship of S. Infantis from human and food origin was investigated. [•] The strains presented a high genetic similarity by ERIC-PCR, PFGE and MLST. [•] Almost all the strains harbored all the virulence markers searched. [•] A prevalent subtype may have been causing disease and contaminating food in Sao Paulo State. [•] Better control measures for S. Infantis are needed in Brazil. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
