Abstract
- The article discusses the approaches that federal circuit courts in the U.S. have taken to determine whether federal law preempts state immigration laws that authorize or require local and state law enforcement officials to verify a person's immigration states during a lawful traffic stop, arrest, or detention. It presents case studies of some state authorities to enforce federal immigration laws including Oklahoma, Arizona and Alabama.
