Abstract

Highlights: [•] Liquid metal flows in two coupled breeder units of a HCLL TBM have been investigated by asymptotic analysis and numerical simulations. [•] Pressure drop at the first wall gap may reach a similar order of magnitude as the one along the radial extension of the module. [•] Pressure drop strongly depends on the radial distribution of the magnetic field and its value at the first wall. [•] Electric potentials along the side walls, i.e. along the stiffening plates, depend also significantly on the variation of B. [•] The distribution of flow rates remains practically unchanged in comparison with the case of a uniform magnetic field. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
