Abstract
- In manufacturing companies, mainly small and medium- size, the environmental management is characterized by the accomplishment of the environmental laws. However, new concepts such as proactive environmental management have been proposed. According to the theory of Vision Based on Natural Resources, the Proactive Environmental Management is a set of complex coordination of strategic resources, organizational capacities and environmental practices that lead to a better environmental performance and a better competitive advantage. These capacities are based on company strategic resources. This research paper aims at designing a model of information system as a strategic tool to facilitate and support information management as an organizational capacity: "stakeholders' management", which allows a company to perform proactive environmental practices to reach a sustainable competitive advantage. This model of information system was created based on some elements of the Directed Arquitectural Methodolgy by Models, mainly focusing on literary findings, the Vision Based on Natural Resources theory, and an analysis made by a diagnosis in 10 companies in Bogota city, Colombia. The research outcomes make us conclude that information management upon proactive environmental management in a company expands in a more transversal way than a vertical one through an information system and the primary and secondary activities in a company. Additionally, the results give a guidance to information management upon stakeholders' management moving towards a proactive environmental management in PymES belonging to the manufacturing sector.
