Abstract

The article examines the use of coloured overlays used in education that are designed to assist with students' reading abilities by changing the background or text colour. Information is provided on research and theories suggesting that overlays matching an individual's color preference can reduce or eliminate the effects of perception difficulties. According to the author, this practice is not widely accepted by mainstream educators due to studies that contradict reports of overlays' benefits.
