Abstract

The article focuses on chemical looping, a chemical process that converts carbon-based fuels to electricity, liquid fuels and/or hydrogen with low to negative net carbon emissions. One advantage of chemical looping is the flexibility when it comes to fuel source and products. At Ohio State's Clean Energy Research Laboratory, both calcium- and iron-based chemical looping are explored. Two of these processes are the Syngas Chemical Looping system and the Coal-Direct Chemical Looping system.
