Abstract

The article discusses a study on peanut-skin polyphenol including epicatechin (4β;→6)-epicatechin-(2β;→O→7,4β→8)-catechin (EEC) which shows cholesterol micelle-degrading effect. It compares EEC with polyphenol procyanidin A1. The study revealed that administration of water-soluble peanut-skin polyphenol fraction improved hypercholesterolemia in rats fed with a high-cholesterol diet.
