Abstract

Highlights: [•] We employed hydrogel nanoparticles to concentrate urinary hGH into the linear range of isoform differential immunoassays. [•] The pre-processing step allowed measurement of urine spiked with recombinant and pituitary hGH. [•] Nanoparticles pre-treatment was applied to urine from healthy volunteers administered with recombinant hGH. [•] The recombinant/pituitary hGH concentration ratios remained above the established WADA criterion for hGH misuse up to 24h after the last administration dose. [•] The use of nanoparticles appears to open the possibility of assessing rhGH misuse in urine. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
