Abstract
- The article examines the advances in hydrogeology between the middle of the 19th and 20th century particularly on the geological basis for preferential groundwater flow in bedrock aquifers. It refers to Henry Darcy's law for laminar flow in porous media and the Darcy-Weisbach equation for turbulent flow in pipes. Moreover, the concept of bedrock flow in overburden aquifers should be assessed differently in contrast to the water-table laws as it is not intended for general application.
