Abstract
- The article explores the market reform and quality of economic growth in India during the 1980s and after liberation in early 1990s. It examines the quantitative aspect of gross domestic product (GDP) growth based on the quality and occurrence of defects and faults of consumer goods, such as televisions, telephone and wristwatches. It also suggests that the quality of consumer goods were higher during liberalization than policy governments of import substitution.
