Abstract

The article discusses a study on the Tillandsia L., the largest genus of Bromeliaceae with more than 620 pieces in six subgenera ranging from Southeastern U.S. to subtropical Argentine and Chile inhabiting tropical rainforests and deserts from the lowlands to the highlands. It aims to elucidate the aspects belonging to Tillandsia subs. Tillandsia and the phylogenetic relationships of taxa within the subgenus. Variation and information within 8 plastid DNA markers were assessed.
