Abstract
- Highlights: [•] The 4- and 5-year-olds matched the notations (digit included) equally in the two transcoding directions. [•] The 4-year-olds matched better arrays and digits than number words and digits, with small numbers first. [•] These results highlight the developmental importance of the analogical code in the learning of digital code. [•] They suggest the utility of exploring children’s acquisition of digits in addition to number words. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
