Abstract: The article discusses a study which investigated whether Asian musk shrews are a reservoir for rat hepatitis E virus (HEV). The researchers examined 260 shrews that were trapped in Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, China. It was found that rat HEV might have the capability to induce an immune response in humans.
