Abstract

The article presents a study which examines the role of high-frequency oscillatory ventilation (HFOV) in mortality reduction among adults with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). It states that a randomized controlled trial was conducted at 39 intensive care units in five countries and the adults with new-onset and moderate-to-severe ARDS to HFOV were assigned. Results show that adults with moderate-to-severe ARDS, may gain in-hospitality mortality.
