Abstract

Highlights: [•] Simplified membrane cascade process that overcomes previous control problems is proposed. [•] The process operates using a single high-pressure pump and without any buffer tank between membrane stages. [•] The process was experimentally validated by increasing the process yield from 59% to 94%. [•] It has been shown that recycle ratio and operating pressure affects the yield and purity significantly. [•] A mathematical model to predict the cascade performance is developed.
