- The article focuses on the status of optometry in the U.S. as analyzed by the American Optometric Association. It analyzes the output of products and services in the ophthalmic industry, the patient demand forecast for the eye care services and the effect of new diagnostic and information technology on the eye care services. It discusses trends among the eye care professionals, and examines future prospects that will change the role of optometry in vision care.
