Abstract
- The article focuses on a study which investigated the nature and persistence of substrate at a mesohabitat scale matter for Chironomidae assemblages. The study included 60 samples collected using a Surber sampler, and a set of 23 environmental descriptors, such as physicochemical parameters and different fractions of particulate organic matter. It found that stable substrates such as boulders, cobbles and rooted plants supported higher chironomids richness, abundance and diversity.
