Abstract

Abstract: Single crystals of Dimethylaminomethylphthalimide cadmium chloride (DAMPCC) were grown by a slow evaporation technique. The unit cell parameters and crystal structure were measured by the powder X-ray diffraction analysis. The modes of vibrations of different molecular groups present in the DAMPCC crystal have been identified by FTIR spectral analysis. The UV–vis–NIR spectral analysis is used to study the optical behaviors like absorption and transmission properties of the crystal. The diffuse reflectance spectrum in absorption studies is calculated. The optical band gap of the DAMPCC crystal is calculated to be cut off wavelength 360nm at photon energy 4.772eV. The optical conductivity, electrical conductivity and ac conductivity are also calculated. Finally the nonlinear optics (NLO) property of DAMPCC crystal was confirmed by second harmonic generation (SHG) test using the Nd:YAG laser of fundamental wavelength 1064nm. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
