Abstract

Lunar satellite in the polar orbit is the most popular concept in the recent and future lunar exploration missions for finding the water and other objectives. The motion and perturbed solution of lunar satellite are distinctly different from that of the earth satellite because the central body of the satellite, the Moon, is not the same as the Earth. In this paper, we use a set of non singular orbital elements, which is suitable for the lunar orbiter with <F>0 ≤ e < 1</F> and <F>0° ≤ i < 180°</F>, to investigate the precise orbit determination for lunar satellite. Therefore, we could take the most advantage of both the analytical method and the numerical method. We give an overall strategy and make a simulation with the range data in this paper. The result is according with the theoretical analysis and suggests that this strategy have a practical prospect. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
