Abstract

Highlights: [•] Sleep and hippocampal ACh release are indispensable for memory consolidation. [•] Icv injection of MCH increased REM time and hippocampal ACh effluxes. [•] A significant correlation between REM time and hippocampal ACh effluxes was observed. [•] Injection of MCH into the medial septum increased the ACh effluxes, not REM time. [•] MCH facilitated ACh releases at least in part through the medial septum. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
