Highlights: [•] The prevalence of hyperandrogenism and oligomenorrhea in PCOS decrease with age. [•] The age-related changes affect the incidence and complications of PCOS. [•] Hyperandrogenism and oligomenorrhea are predominant in younger women with PCOS. [•] Obesity and metabolic disturbances are predominant in older women with PCOS.
