An interview with Portuguese sociologist Boaventura Sousa Santos is presented. He discusses his political consciousness as social scientist as well as his interest in social problems of the 21st-century society. Particular focus is given to his notion of competent rebellion against conformity. Other topics discussed include the illusion of neutrality in social sciences, his participation in the Fórum Social Mundial, and critics to eurocentrism.
