In this study to characterize the morphology of the diaphragm in Callithrix jacchus, we used 4 adult animals, two males and two females, which they died of natural causes. After the dissection of animals the diaphragm was measured for its length and width using a caliper, and the muscular portion of the collected samples for histology and stained with Hematoxylin-Eosin and Masson. The topography and presence of three openings in the diaphragm corroborate the literature for other mammals. The presence of a tendinous center "V" differs from other species such as guinea pig. There were no gender differences for measurements. The use of coloration allowed more accurate analysis of the muscular portion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
