One Man's Meat is Another Man's Poetry: Masculinity And Metaphor in the Work of Vladimir Maiakovskii.

The article critique several poems by Soviet and Russian Vladimir Maiakovskii, including "Night/Noch'," "The Fop's Blouse/Kofta fata" and "Cloud in Pants/Oblako v shtanakh." Particular focus is given to the role that Maiakovskii's use of metaphor in depicting gender and masculinity. Maiakovskii's poems' relationship with the politics of Russia and the Soviet Union is also discussed.
