Abstract

The article presents a case study involving the medical group's motivation for seeking recognition from the U.S. National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) as a patient-centered medical home (PCMH). It indicates that PCMH principles were consistent with the culture and mission of the organization. It reveals that some PCMH components were viewed as part of the patient-centered culture of the organization, whereas others helped the practice compete in its local market.
