Abstract

The article discusses the importance of realistic immersion training for U.S. military forces that replicates close-combat conditions. The need for the ground services to create an attributable, measurable service-wide system for training small units during a protracted period of peace is addressed. The use of virtual simulation technologies such as the VIRTSIM technology from Raytheon Co. and Motion Reality Inc. at small-unit combat training centers (CTC) is also described.
