Abstract

The article discusses a study by Avi Wallerstein and Mark Cohen, co-founders of laser vision correction provider LASIK MD, which revealed that the progressive corneal ectasia can be treated with multimodal technique. It highlights that the multistep treatment involving phototherapeutic keratotomy (PTK), topography-guided PRK (TG-PRK) and collagen crosslinking (CXL) is advantageous for ectatic corneas. It mentions that the treatment improves keratometry, refraction, and quality of vision.
