Abstract

The article discusses efforts to pass U.S. legislation in 2013 requiring foods containing genetically modified organisms (GMOs) to be labeled. Laws in states such as Vermont, Maine, and Connecticut are mentioned, as well as the development of certification policies for non-GMO foods. Food labeling policies for the grocery chain Whole Foods, suppliers of non-GMO ingredients, and certification company Non-GMO Project are also mentioned.
