THE PHILOSOPHER PLOUGHMAN.

A biography of English political philosopher Michael Oakeshott is presented. He was born in Chelsfield, England in 1901, attended school at St George's, Harpenden, England, then studied history, theology, and political thought at Cambridge University. He was made a fellow at Cambridge University, chair of political science at the London School of Economics, and served as lecturer at Harvard University. Also discussed are his three marriages, his published works including "On Human Conduct," and his unpublished manuscripts found after his death in 1990.
