The article reviews the conference "Empirische Geschichtsunterrichtsforschung," held in Essen, Germany, from September 4th to September 9th, 2012, presenting empirical research regarding methods of history teaching. Topics included a proposed methodology for assembling a bibliography of the field, a Swiss pedagogical project including the video release, Geschichte und Politik im Unterricht (History and Politics in the Classroom), and an evaluation of pedagogical methods currently in use alongside proposals for new methods.
