IMPORTANŢA NECESITĂŢII IMPLEMENTĂRII UNUI SISTEM DE EVALUARE A TEHNOLOGIILOR MEDICALE.

It becomes more evident that during the decision-making process, primarily due to the limited resources of the healthcare system, besides medical arguments, neither the financial nor the economical factor can be neglected. Health technology assessment (HTA) should be introduced in Romania, as well for medical services, pharmaceutical products and for other technologies. Health technology assessment is a useful tool for decision makers that can be used both for prioritizing the allocation of resources and for the development of clinical practice guidelines, as well as for treatment methods which should consider cost-effectiveness, too. HTA may contribute to pricing, estimating costs and savings achieved according to the results of these evidence-based assessments and last but not least to ensure sustainable funding and medium and long term remodelling health policies.
