Abstract
- The DARHT-II final focusing system consists of a solenoid and a foil, which is used to confine backstreaming ions. The separation between the converter target and the foil needs to be small to minimize the ion focusing effects. The beam spot size on the foil has to be large enough to ensure survivability of the foil while it is being struck by four high current pulses over 2 microsecond period. We have investigated several final focusing lens and focusing schemes. The simulation results of the beam spot size on the target are presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
