Abstract

The article discusses the management of prolactin elevation in children and adolescents which is a side effect of atypical antipsychotics that re prescribed to treat psychiatric conditions and symptoms. An increase in prolactin is known to inhibit the release of Gonadotropic Releasing Hormone, which can result in decreases in Luteinizing Hormone and Follicle Stimulating Hormone in females.
