Abstract

By use of coupled-mode theory we analyze a channel add--drop filter based on two dispersive waveguides symmetrically coupled with two resonant optical cavities. We show new solutions for the channel-drop filter processes compared to the solutions found by Manolatou et al (1999 IEEE J. Quantum Electron. 35 1322). For a special choice of the dispersion of the waveguides, we reveal a frequency region with sufficient total reflection. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
