Abstract

In this article, the author argues that Saint Gregory of Nyssa, rather than Saint Gregory of Nazianzus, was a friend of the Greek Patristic thinker and ascetic Evagrius Ponticus and therefore the source of the latter's Origenism. According to the author, this supports a passage of Palladius reporting that it was Saint Gregory of Nyssa who ordained Evagrius.
