Abstract

Presents a study which introduced [nickel-iron/silicon][subn] multilayees as soft magnetic underlayer for improvements of the surface smoothness and soft magnetic properties of perpendicular magnetic recording media. Use of nickel-iron-oxygen layer as intermediate layer between recording layer and soft magnetic underlayer and as seed layer for cobalt-chormium-tantalum(-platinum) recording layer; Experimental details; Results and discussion.
