Abstract

The article presents a secondary analysis on the impact of lung transplantation on the patient's quality of life (QOL) using data prospectively and serially measured with the Medical Outcomes Study 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey, version 2 (SF-36). The study hypothesized that the procedure confers a one-year QOL benefit in both physical and psychologic well-being. Results show that lung transplantation provides clinically important QOL benefits physically but not in psychologic well-being.
