The article reports on how the Local Optical Committee Support Unit pathway for people with learning disabilities is working in practice for a number of Local Optical Committees (LOC) across England. The difficulty faced by people with learning disabilities to access the professional care provided by the optical sector is highlighted. LOCs in England are commended for raising the profile of the value of community eye care and improving access to good quality eye care for his group of people.
