Abstract

Abstract: The Ni doped CuAlO2 films were prepared by sol–gel on single crystal quartz substrates. The photoconductivity and transmittivity of as-prepared thin films were demonstrated to be influenced by the different Ni concentration. Experimental results indicate that the film with 3at% Ni concentration has a good transmission of 75% in the visible light range and a preferable photoconductivity 3.1×10−2 Scm−1 in 100mW/cm2 illumination. It can be attributed to the changing of the hole carrier concentration and carrier mobility after Ni doping. The small polaron theory and crystal structure distortion were proposed to explain such results. Calculated by the fitted formula, the response time of rise time and the decay time are 75ms and 50ms respectively, and the photosensitiveness is 215%, which provide the possibility for further application.
