Abstract

The article focuses on the issue of drug shortages in the U.S. It mentions that injectable medications and anti-infective drugs have conceived adverse effect by shortages in drugs. It includes that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) efforts have helped avert numerous new drugs shortages in 2012. It adds that economic pressures and aging infrastructure have made injectable medication related products vulnerable to production disruption. It says that the FDA may alert other companies that they should increase production in case when a particular company declines to continue producing a drug.
