Abstract

The author reflects on the overconsumption of salt (sodium chloride) in the U.S. and efforts to reduce it. Statistics are presented on the average consumption of salt in countries including Argentina, Chile, and Brazil. It also mentions that a Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) supported an expert group to develop tools and resources to assist countries in the U.S. to lower dietary salt.
