Abstract

The article discusses a study of the link between low levels of aerobic fitness (AF) in men with the risk of chronic kidney disease, focusing on the disease markers of kidney hyperfiltration and albuminuria. The maximum oxygen uptake capacities of over 34,000 adults at the Seoul National University Hospital in Korea were measured with a cycle ergometer. Glomerular filtration rates and levels of albuminuria in urinalysis were then measured. Correlations between aerobic fitness and kidney function metrics were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods such as analysis of variance, chi-squared tests, and regression analysis. The results indicated an association between AF and early chronic kidney disease markers in healthy men.
