Abstract
- The article examines impact models that suggest the formation of the moon from Earth's collision with a protoplanet. It cites the giant impact theory in 1975 which proposed the formation of the moon from the same Earth material. It explains the Canup Impact Model developed by Robin Canup of the Southwest Research Institute in Colorado, and the Cuk and Stewart Impact Model proposed by Harvard University's Matija Cuk and Sarah Stewart.
