Abstract
- An essay is presented on the history of libertines and heterosexuality in the 18th century as expressed in the diaries of American founder Gouverneur Morris. The author explores libertine principles and how they could be applied to different aspects of life, discusses the sexual identity and sexual practices of Morris, and analyzes male sexual attitudes toward marriage and heterosexual love.
