Abstract

The article discusses the types, symptoms and treatment of spinal vascular malformations (SVM). The various types of SVMs include spinal dural arteriovenous malformations (AVM), juvenile spinal AVMs and perimedullary spinal AVMs. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanning, a high quality diagnostic spinal angiogram is useful to detect the presence of lesions in the AVM. The article also mentions that endovascular treatment may be administered depending on the type of AVM.
